The Nation Stands with Arizona by Dawn Wildman

The Nation Stands Up for Arizona

It was my honor and pleasure to witness one of the most courageous acts I’ve seen in a long time. On May 29, 2010, 8,000+ people filled Diablo Stadium in Tempe Arizona to give thanks to Arizona’s citizens and Governor Jan Brewer for supporting the laws of our Nation. As many of us have read and watched elected officials all over the Untied States have decided to boycott Arizona for passing one of the most sweeping pieces of legislation to combat illegal immigration. This law known as SB 1070 is the enforcement of existing federal laws. Phoenix Arizona has seen a major uptick in violence which can be seen as the direct cause of illegal immigration and now has the unenviable distinction of being the second most likely city to be kidnapped from in the world.

Arizona was forced, by the lack of response from the federal government and even local officials, to take back their cities and counties. This charge was lead by Sheriff Joe Arpaio and Arizona Senator Russell Pearce who authored SB 1070. Now the Nation is helping Arizona by showing our appreciation with our consumer dollars. Many people from all over the country came to Arizona on this weekend to support and rally around Arizona for an event which was hosted by the Dallas Tea Party Patriots. Phillip Dennis and his group of fabulous volunteers put on a rally that was inspired and truly fabulous. There are many to thank for this day of celebration such as Deb Meyers who we understand is the wonder behind the scenes and a woman that everyone speaks highly about both in Texas and now in Arizona.

The evening festivities began with kind words and praise for our fallen as this was Memorial Day weekend. Mike Broomhead the host of The Valley Talk radio show in Phoenix was the Master of Ceremonies for the event and was joined by many radio personalities from all over the country. Mike Broomhead’s own brother Tom Broomhead was killed on Memorial Day seven years ago in Iraq in the line of duty and was praised as a hero. There was also a huge display of support and respect for the fallen law enforcement officers who gave the ultimate sacrifice to the citizens of Arizona.  They all sacrificed so others could be saved on both fronts, our veterans of war both domestic and foreign.

Dr. Gina Loudan from Ohio was a guest speaker and helped coined the phrase “BUYCOTT” and helped to turn this event and others like it viral through her show. Michael Barry of a Houston Texas talk radio show reminded everyone that the law enforcement in Texas now knows that one of the people on the FBI Most Wanted List , a Pakistani terrorist is in Houston. They have also found that 38 of the most heinous terrorist are also in Texas and that they came through the Mexican border.

As we all gave a moment of silence for the brave men and women we were reminded that yet another Arizona peace officer had paid the ultimate sacrifice in Phoenix. This brave young man Officer Travis Murphy was killed in the line of duty just this past week and was mourned by all of Arizona.

Among the speakers was Mark Spencer of the Police Law Enforcement Association (PLEA), the largest law enforcement union in the state, who was strong in his words when he described how many men have given their lives in the pursuit of saving their fellow citizens. Six police officers have been killed and six more injured due to the illegal activities of some of the illegal immigrants invading Maricopa County.  Mark Spencer was even more passionate when he spoke of the change to police policy two years ago when they were “test driving “their ability to crack down on criminals who came to the region illegally over our borders, by enforcing the law on the books. Since they started this new policy 3000 illegal aliens have been deported just this year and they saw no increase in their budget and no persons civil rights were offended in the process. As Sheriff Joe was to state later when he spoke, “Where was the government then?” Now the federal government has seen to discriminate against a state that is merely enforcing existing laws that the federal government agencies seem to refuse to do.

When Phillip and Victoria Dennis spoke their words touched the crowd as Victoria is a legal immigrant from Colombia and came to the United States legally recently. Victoria spoke with passion and tears in her native language Spanish as Phillip translated. Mrs. Dennis , who was also recovering from a terrible car accident was at the event despite wearing a neck collar brace due to her injuries, to speak about her experience of coming to this country as legal immigrant and how much it means to her to be here. Phillip ad Victoria traveled from Dallas, Texas to plan and execute a wonderful event in Tempe. Victoria  quoted Isaiah 5:20 which says, “Woe to those who call evil good, and good evil. Who put darkness for light, and light for darkness. Who put bitter for sweet and sweet for bitter.”

Phillip ended his speech with an appropriate joke for Arizona citizens by saying that the volunteers had worked harder on this event than John McCain is in trying to convince everyone he is a conservative. The crowd roared with laughter at this moment. There were so many great quotes during this 3 ½ hour event here are just a few:

Los Angeles activist Ted Hayes: “The majority of black citizens are against illegal immigration” and that the illegal immigrants are,” stealing the legacy of my people”. “The 14th Amendment was given to m people not based on the color of my skin, or the kinkiness f my hair, or the thickness of my lips but based on the unique experience of my people coming to this country.”

Lauren Hodge from the radio show the Brazen 3 and Hot Tea Radio said: “The border(fence) around  the White House is enforced! She told the story of what Yamamoto said after the United States declared war on Japan after the bombing of Pearl harbor,  Lauren said, “Look at the awakening of the sleeping giant here today!”

The spirit of the American people is always taken for granted and probably always will be those not in touch with that spirit! The spirit was alive and well in Arizona on this day!

Arizona rancher murdered by illegal immigrant who flees to Mexico

An Arizona rancher who was a fixture in the community was brutally murdered by an alleged illegal immigrant on Saturday night. The Arizona/Mexico border rancher, Robert Krentz met a cruel end after he went out in the middle of the night to investigate strange noises.

The assassin killed Krentz and his dog before scampering across the Mexican border, according to authorities on the scene. As of late Sunday night Border Patrol trackers were unable to catch the murderer, but will continue the search throughout the night.

As word of the murder spread on Sunday, former Congressman and border activist Tom Tancredo called for Department of Homeland Security Secretary, Janet Napolitano to “reject politics, do the right thing and send the National Guard to the border.”

Tancredo spent the day with distraught family members looking for answers.
“As Governor of Arizona, Napolitano deployed the National Guard to help the Border Patrol do its job. Yesterday’s murder of rancher Rob Krentz on his own land 25 miles from the Mexican border makes it clear that that job remains unfinished,” said Tancredo. “Three days ago, Napolitano told an audience at Arizona State University that the border is more secure than ever,” said Tancredo. “I challenge her-no I dare her to come to this community and try to sell that lie. The residents here know better.” Keep reading

Human trafficking group seeks tougher prison penalities

Looking for ways to slow human trafficking and the evils that comes with the modern-day slavery, California Against Slavery has started its petition drive to get tougher penalties for those who peddle in human trafficking onto California’s books.
The groups seeks much tougher criminal penalties, aid to district attorneys to better prosecute cases, increase protections for victims and train law enforcement officers all with hope of deterring those who continue to smuggle immigrants in America under the guise of a better life.
Victims of human trafficking are often subjected to forced labor, sexual exploitation and blackmail from their captures. This phenomenon isn’t unique to the United States, but is thriving in many countries around the world.
“We support and desperately need to see revision in our state law with regard to human trafficking,” said Jenny Williamson, founder and president of Courage to Be You, a Sacramento-area organization that rescues and restores victims of child sex trafficking. “Severe fines and extended jail time for the perpetrators of this evil must be enacted if ever this crime is to be deterred. Our courageous law enforcement officers must be equipped and encouraged with mandatory, specific training so that rescuing these vulnerable victims and putting their perpetrators away becomes a priority within our state.”
Taking a crack at the issue is Daphne Phung, executive director and founder of California Against Slavery;

1. How many people are found in California and U.S. who are victims of human trafficking?

Due to the underground nature of human trafficking, the counts of victims in California and the U.S. are not concrete or recent. Keep reading

Latin American countries propose open borders in the Western Hemisphere

According to a report in El Universo, the Ecuadorian government will ask the Organization of American States (OAS) to consider pushing the U.S. to adopt an open-border policy to encourage all people of Northern and Southern America to be free to move throughout the region, thus ending the need for deportations.
In the story, Hernan Holguin, sub-secretary of the Ecuadorian national department that oversees migrant issues, said he would bring this matter to the attention of OAS in an effort to solve the “human rights” and to halt the “irregular immigrants” deportations.
The move by Ecuador’s leaders hopes to impose a new world order in the west. Hernan expressed that people around the globe are advancing to a ‘universal citizenship’ and the world at large has already accepted that world globalization extends beyond foreign trade and is advancing towards ‘universal citizenship.’
The Ecuadorian government believes citizens of the world should be able to travel to countries whenever they want to.
The one-world proposal urges that “an integrated migrant policy with full respect for human rights in the framework of human mobility,” Hernan explains. He also emphasized that the process of immigrant returning to their country of origin should be “orderly, planned and supported.” Keep reading

Illegal alien lawsuits clog courtrooms in California

Well-funded illegal alien activists in Southern California have found a new way to attack Americans fighting for secure borders and enforcement of current immigration laws. The fight has moved from the streets where they wave the their Mexican flag to America’s civil courtrooms.

“Allow me to understand this correctly. Illegal aliens, people who have committed a crime by entering this country illegally, and who continue to commit additional crimes by using counterfeit documents to project a status they are not entitled to, are suing cities and citizens for “disrupting their RIGHT to work in the US, even though they have no such right? If any immigrant “rights” organization or other advocacy group is responsible for the filing of such suits, either directly or indirectly, they should be counter claimed against for abuse of process and malicious prosecution. It’s time for the good citizens of this country to fight back through the courts,” said retired ICE Agent John Sampson who now runs CSI Consulting and Investigations.

The beef about an upcoming lawsuit in San Diego against Jeff Schwilk, founder of the San Diego Minutemen, stems from a violent attack on Los Angeles anti-illegal immigration activist John Monti in November 2006 at the Rancho Penasquitos day-labor site in San Diego.

“Controversial San Diego attorney Daniel Gilleon was hired by La Raza operatives more than three years ago to go after San Diego Minutemen and other pro-security activists,” says Schwilk.

Monti had gone to the infamous makeshift hiring site to photograph the day laborers and the law-breaking employers hiring illegal workers. “It is still a felony to hire illegal aliens in the U.S. and studies have shown that almost all day laborers are illegal aliens from Latin America, Schwilk explains.

While photographing the street-side hiring process, Monti was suddenly jumped from behind by at least seven Hispanic men. “They punched him, tried to steal his professional camera, and pushed him into the busy boulevard. Several passersby’s witnessed the attack and called 911. When police arrived two minutes later, they found a bloody and shaken Mr. Monti,” witnesses reported.

Once the police were called to the scene, all of the attackers had made a run for it. Luckily, Monti photographed many of the laborers prior to the attack and was able to show San Diego Police Department. The next day the victim, Monti, sent the same pictures via email to local San Diego activists so they could call the police if the suspects returned to the day labor site where they usually look for employment every day. At this point Schwilk received the pictures and forwarded them to his local law enforcement contacts and other concerned residents in the area. Keep reading

Latinos restless for immigration reform - use fiery rhetoric to gain upper hand

The 2009 political winds gave Democrats a substantial majority in the House and a filibuster -proof Senate, yet a year of inter-party bickering left the President empty handed when it came to health care legislation, cap-and-trade and immigration reform.

“People are angry and disillusioned,” Rep. Luis Gutierrez (D-Ill) said in a recent interview.

Gutierrez criticized the Obama administration for not trying harder for legislation that would grant amnesty for most immigrants. The Illinois Congressman and author of 2010 comprehensive immigration reform legislation conceded that he short at least 18 votes in the House and therefore unable to move the bill he sponsored.

Gutierrez made a trip this week to Los Angeles to discuss amnesty and to headline a town hall meeting at Our Lady Queen of Angels Church, known as “La Placita,” which has acknowledged its sanctuary standing for illegal immigrants.

In an interview with The Los Angeles Times, Gutierrez said that Obama’s failure to push immigration reform was symbolized by his State of the Union address last Wednesday, “when he devoted 38 of about 7,300 words to the issue.”

“The throwaway line,” Gutierrez said, was the final straw for many activists. Many hard-line immigration activists have been perturbed by the Obama Administrations continued deportations and enforcement actions that haven’t led to any real progress on reform. Keep reading

Looking to relieve unemployment Congressmen launch in caucus

In an effort to tackle the growing joblessness plight the U.S. workers face, Congressmen Gary Miller (R-CA) and ranking member, Lamar Smith (R-TX) formed “Reclaim American Jobs Caucus.” In a statement issued today the Congressmen responded to a report commissioned by the Chicago Urban League and Alternative Schools Network.
According to the study, illegal immigration affects lower-skilled citizens and legal immigrants chances to gain employment.
“During the course of the 2007-2009 recession, the employment rate of the nation’s teen[s] feel steeply to 26.2% by October-November 2009, setting new record lows each year. No other age group has experienced employment declines of this magnitude in the current recession,” the report said. “Young adults 20-24 years old in both Illinois and the nation also have been adversely affected by the deterioration in labor market developments in the state and nation in recent years, especially men, Blacks and Hispanics, and non-college graduates.”

Both Congressional members, Smith and Miller, noted that these are often the same Americans who face the most competition for jobs. A slow job market adds competition for jobs and result is more competition from illegal immigrants.

“The fact is that illegal immigrants take jobs from American workers, particularly poor and disadvantaged citizens and legal immigrants. The best outcome for low-skilled citizen and legal immigrant workers is the removal of the illegal immigrant population,” Congressman Smith said.  Keep reading

Freshmen Congressmen band together to shore up immigration and prevent amnesty

A bipartisan group of freshmen Congressmen joined Duncan Hunter (R-CA) to introduce legislation that outlines several guiding principles for comprehensive immigration reform.

The freshmen lawmakers are proving they are listening to what the voters are telling them, smaller government, fewer taxes, shoring up the borders and looking at immigration issues sensibly. Off the table is amnesty for those who are in this country illegally.

“Our national and economic security continues to be threatened by our porous borders and the inconsistent enforcement of existing immigration laws,” said Congressman Hunter whose district is near the U.S./Mexican border. “The immigration reform debate must not be dictated by misguided calls for open borders and amnesty. The American people expect security to be a priority and immigration laws to be thoroughly enforced in our communities and the workplace. This resolution emphasizes these principles as the basis for any immigration reform measure that might move forward.”

The Bipartisan Reform of Immigration through Defining Good Enforcement (“BRIDGE”), H.R. 1026, Resolution was introduced by Congressmen Hunter, Jason Chaffetz (R-UT), Frank Kratovil (D-MD), Glenn Nye (D-VA) as well as 18 other House members and hopes to change the immigration debate as the 2010 Congressional session unfolds. Congressmen look to end controversial visa lottery program for terrorist countries

Each year in the United States the immigration department holds a lottery where 50,000 immigrants who seek to reside in America can win the golden ticket and gain legal entry into the country. The popular program is only available for those countries that do not send a large number of immigrants to the U.S.

In an effort to remove any possible security risks, Congressmen Lamar Smith (R-TX) and Bob Goodlatte (R-VA) have asked Chairman of the Judiciary committee, John Conyers (D-MI) urging the committee to consider eliminating the annual visa lottery. (Note: state sponsors of terrorism are not excluded from the lottery.)

The Congressmen pointed out countries that are eligible for the visa lottery include; Iran, Sudan, Cuba as well as 13 of the 14 nations the Transportation Security Administration’s (TSA) crack down on airport security, including Nigeria home country of the Christmas Day terrorist incident.

“The visa lottery program poses a national security threat. Under the program, each successful applicant is chosen at random and given the status of permanent resident based on pure luck,” Rep. Goodlatte explained. “Usually, immigrant visas are issued to foreign nationals who have an existing connection with a family member lawfully residing in the United States or with a U.S. employer. These types of relationships help to ensure that immigrants entering the country have a stake in our nation’s continued success, and have needed skills to contribute to our nation’s economy. However, under the visa lottery program, visas are awarded to immigrants at random without meeting such criteria.”

Congressman Smith continued to say the visa lottery is a dangerous game with our national security. “America already has the most generous immigration policy in the world, admitting over one million legal immigrants each year. But under the current lottery system, up to 50,000 randomly selected alien applicants win visas each year, many from countries with a significant terrorist presence.”  Keep reading

Violence in Mexico unabated, entry into U.S. remains inconsistent

As the cycle of violence continues unabated in Mexico and increasing U.S. terror attacks are being thwarted it remains more important than ever to secure our borders. A recent trip across the San Ysidro border found many border “walk across” entrants were allowed into the U.S. by showing identification, but agents were not entering their documents into the computer system.

“One of the Department of Homeland Security’s primary missions is to maintain and regularly update the systems that help red-flag applicants for admission with possible terrorist ties, as well as wanted persons and known smugglers. However, even the best state-of-the-art name-check system is only as good as the diligence of law enforcement officers using it,” says Julia Davis former CBP agent at San Ysidro border crossing.

“Thoroughly scanning and verifying the identity documents of every applicant for admission to the United States is of the utmost importance to the national security. The DHS has no more important responsibility than the protection of all Americans and preventing the entry of any elements posing a potential threat. Powerful information technology puts the data at the fingertips of CBP officers in the field in real time. While the systems of checks are not infallible and need continued improvement, they should be diligently utilized by the officers at our ports of entry to combat the threats we face as a nation,” Davis concluded.

To be fair another agent stated sometimes there are circumstances when the computer system “goes down” and it is up to the Customs and Border Patrol agent to use their judgment when letting citizens or Legal Permanent Residence (LPR) card users into the country.

“In many cases if the subject is questionable they should be sent to secondary where another agent can ask questions and determine the admissibility of said individuals,” he said. Keep reading
